Electric Transmission

Electric transmission lines deliver electricity, usually over long distances, to local utilities which utilize their distribution systems to deliver the energy to customers. The “power grid” is made up of electric transmission lines, electric distribution lines, substations and power plants.

Our electric transmission line projects are focused on allowing customers to access and share energy broadly across the western United States. Some of the benefits include:

  • Allow access to renewable generation sources, such as wind and solar, often located in remote areas
  • Increase the capacity to move electric energy from where it is generated to where it is needed
  • Increased transmission capacity helps reduce the costs of procuring renewable energy needed to achieve the energy-policy goals in many jurisdictions
  • Increased reliability for the power grid as a whole

Microgrids

Microgrids are small-scale generation or energy storage facilities installed at customer locations.

Our microgrids provide resilient energy with multiple benefits for our customers:

  • Dramatically improve power quality (voltage, frequency), reducing downtime of critical equipment
  • React autonomously to provide reliability during grid disruptions and outages
  • Leverage solar and battery storage to minimize environmental impacts
  • Accommodate customers' changing energy needs with flexible modular design

Our microgrids are controlled by Yuma Sentinel™ patented technology that seamlessly integrates any number of generation resources including solar, energy storage and reciprocating engines to protect the critical energy needs of our customers. Our technology is the subject of U.S. Patent Nos. 10,935,945 and 11,005,288 in addition to other pending applications.

Renewables

Renewable energy, which is derived from earth's natural resources that are not finite or exhaustible, is an alternative to traditional energy. Examples of renewable energy include solar, wind, geothermal and hydropower.

Our renewable generation facilities are focused on providing the following benefits to our customers:

  • Provide clean, renewable energy
  • Help customers meet renewable energy goals
  • Provide benefits to the environment by reducing CO2 emissions along with other pollutants
  • Provide grid-scale projects that cost less and operate more efficiently than end-user renewables

Energy Storage

Renewables such as wind and solar are intermittent resources that often generate energy at times of reduced demand. Energy storage solutions, such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), provide for greater control and versatility and in how energy generated is used.

Our BESS provide the following benefits to our customers:

  • Storage of energy that can be released when needed
  • Provide energy when intermittent resources may not be available due to time of day or weather conditions
  • Help increase the ability of renewable resources to meet energy demands
  • Are easily paired with renewables and microgrids to further the benefits of those technologies
